Rep Payee Services

PAYEE SERVICE OVERVIEW

We want to take the worry and stress away from money management by securing a close partnership of trust. We will work together to ensure needs are met, and money is spent properly. Safe Care Payee Service will ensure that all changes which may occur in your benefits, living situation, or shift in current needs, are properly reported to the Social Security Administration.

WHAT WE DO

Safe Care Representative Payee Service (RPS) is a Bonded 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization following federal law and guidelines to serve as an Organizational Representative Payee for social security beneficiaries needing assistance managing their monthly expenditures. We provide Representative Payee services under Section 10 of 42 USC 405(j)(4)(A) of the Social Security Act. If a disability, illness, or addiction makes it hard to manage monthly bills, the Safe Care RPS Program may be a good fit. If you, your client, or family member already has a representative payee appointed, yet feel they do not benefit your best interest, you may already qualify for Safe Care RPS.

We serve the Greater Atlanta Metro Area including the wider Georgia State and surrounding states including Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, North and South Carolina just to name a few.

FINANCIAL STABILITY

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?

The fee for Safe Care RPS Program varies based on benefit types. The SSA has strict fee guidelines for the RPS to follow. Safe Care understands how important it is to become stable while living on a fixed monthly income; therefore, we aim to manage the client’s benefits wisely by tracking and recording expenses in a timely and accurate manner.

Safe Care Representative Payee Services Program has been approved by Social Security Administration (SSA) to charge a fee for service.

This is accomplished at minimal cost to the individual as determined by the Social Security Administration or other entity and normally includes an extensive list of duties including the following:

Determining the beneficiary’s current needs for day-to-day living (e.g., food, clothing, housing, medical expenses and personal items) and use his or her benefits to meet those needs by disbursing payments to the beneficiary’s payees such as utilities and other monthly expenses. The typical sequence of events in this process is as follows:

1) The Social Security Administration or other agency sends the clients’ benefit checks directly to Safe Care Homes Group, Inc. once Payeeship has been assigned; funds go directly into a bonded client trust account;

2) Safe Care Homes Group, Inc. establishes a budget for the clients’ bills and daily living expenses based on income and need;

3) Bills (utility bills, insurance bills, etc.) can be set up to go directly from the companies to our agency or can be forwarded to us by the client and payments can be made directly by our agency eliminating the need for the client to pay bills on their own;

4) A spending allowance customized based on the client’s personal needs and spending habits is remotely loaded onto a prepaid Visa® debit card at regular intervals;

5) Representative payee case workers are available to meet with clients upon request at one of our offices or at their home or other convenient location as well as by phone and email;

6) Client activity statements are available monthly or any time upon request;

7) Referrals are made to appropriate programs and services as needed;

8) Money can be set aside in savings for emergencies or other purposes. Money left after meeting the beneficiary’s current needs can be put into an interest bearing checking or savings account, U.S. savings bonds, or other appropriate savings vehicle(s). For large payments, a plan is created to spend or conserve the money wisely, in the best interest of the beneficiary.
